The Horse

A friend of mine from Illinois, Derek aka Dirka, had his bike featured in the
Horse magazine. I met Derek in 2010 in Ill. at a meet that was organized by some great people from TCU. Derek rode in on his bike and at first I thought it was just thrown together. After really lookin at his scoot, I could see a lot of thought , hard work, and sweat went into the design and the look that he was trying to achieve.
I just wanted to congratulate Derek on making the mag and wishing him well and can't wait to meet up again in the near future with him. He is really a rad young dude that knows his way around a bike!
See ya soon bro!

Busy Busy Busy

I haven't had much time lately to update the blog cause of work and other stuff. I did get a bike table made, got the new tire on the stripper chopper and started the tear down on the carbs on the Kawasaki 750..
The carbs were nasty inside. The jets are all plugged up and full of gunk (pics are forthcoming). I'm gonna boil the carbs as a unit in lemon juice and then rinse with baking soda and water to neutralize the acid in the lemon juice. I'll post some update pics soon. Here's the bike table I made. It has rollers on the bottom to move it around. Much easier to work on.

New Tire for the Chop

Just got my new tire the other day for the black chopper. I bought from pureoffroad off fleebay. I paid $64 including delivery so I thought I got a pretty good deal.

Thirsty Thursday!

I swear! What's up with people. It seams like all I have dealt with lately at work are imbeciles and assholes. Why is it that people are so freaking greedy? I mean it seams like everyone is out there for just themselves. Self absorbed little pricks! They seem to think that they deserve more than what they are entitled to.
And then there's co-workers. Employees only do what they are told or required to do, and not one thing more! I have come to dislike the saying "That's not my job" or "I don't get paid to do that" or "That's not in my job description so I'm not gonna do that".
There's a lot of shit not in my job description but I do them any ways because of what the customers want, or to make the business profitable; good, bad or indifferent. People make my job really suck! I have told friends before that if I didn't have to deal with people I would love my job. Maybe that's why I like to enjoy a couple cold brews after working all day so I can clear my head of all the self absorbed, self righteous, greedy, arrogant, what's in it for me people out here in this world.
By the way.....HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Wednesday's Words Of Wisdom

If you ride like there's no tomorrow - there won't be. Grey-haired riders don't get that way from pure luck.

My New Project

Located my new bike project for this year off CL. It's an 80 kawasaki 750 LTD. The bad thing is There is no title and not a chance in hell of getting one for this VIN so I'm on the lookout for a title and neck for an 80 Kawasaki 750.
Stay tuned for future updates.

Nephews Kawasaki Project-update

Nephew called me this last week and he wanted some advice on how he's doin on his Kawasaki so I stopped over on Saturday and took some pics and discussed the direction he wanted to go. He's doin very well on his first chop-what-ya got bike. Some things that I suggested were to modify the rear horseshoe at the rear of the bike cause it sits a little too close to the rear wheel and probably wouldn't allow much adjusted of the rear wheel. I also suggested modifying the rear motor mount so that the bracket could easily be removed in case the engine would ever need removed. As it sits, it would be very difficult to rotate the engine and remove from the frame with the rear mount mount welded in a stationary position.
Overall though I think he's doin a great job and he is definately leatning a lot but he is very very mechanically inclined, probably more so then I am. Anyhow, heres some updated pics.....

Tuesday's Tips

Avoid Blind Spots

A car's blind spot varies according to the vehicle, mirror size and mirror adjustment. Anytime you're parallel to a car, truck or van, you're in the most dangerous spot on the road. Learn to move through this Death Spot aggressively; don't ride in a blind spot, even for a few seconds.

Correct lane positioning will allow you to be seen and keep you away from danger. This rider approaches the cab in the right side of his lane so the cab driver will see him in the cab's mirrors. As the rider approaches the cab's blind spot, he moves left to gain valuable space in case of a sudden lane change.

It's a new year! Hopefully this year will be better than 2010, for all of us. Right now it's cold as frozen monkey nuts and heatin the shop gets expensive so I'll either have to work in the cold ass shop or turn the heat on. Right now, I'm about freekin ready to committ myself to the looney farm cause I've been stuck in the house so I'm probably gonna say f-it and work in the cold. If I don't do something creative soon, I think I'm gonna go postal, lol.
For me, I'm lookin for a new bike project. Funds are low but I'm tryin to save some dough. So if ya have a cheap bike with title shoot me an email.
Some of the posts this year will deal with my nephews ongoing bike build. This is his first build but just knowing his determination and enthusiasm, it ought to be a cool bike. I've offered up my painting skills (just average) if he so desires. He isn't sure what he has in mind but I'd like to see some wild ass paint scheme.
Also this year, I'm gonna try to make the Lowbrow Getdown,  R4YL 3, the BBB in Muskegon Mi, and the Hunnert Car Pile-up in Ill. and any other ride I can afford to go on. I'll be sure to have my camera with me so ya'll can see what fun we'll be havin!
I'll also be doing a pic or video on changin a rear tire on my chopper (ordered it today).
If ya get a chance shoot me some feedback about my blog and what ya'll liket o see. I'll do my best to take care of ya!

Vegetarians, from the other point of view!

Most of ya all know that I dislike P.E.T.A. I like this though!

Tuesdays tips -Motorcycle tyre repair - How to plug a bike tire

You finally have the weekend off and several buddies and you decide to go on a motorcycle ride. You stop for gas and notice a hissing sound coming from your tire. Some how you picked up a nail, screw or other sharp object that has puntured your tire. After a few choice words, it's time to fix the tire.

I have searched for a tubeless tire repair kit that I felt that could not only fix the flat but also air up the tire after repairing. This kit, although some what expensive in my opinion, is probably one of the best kits available. Watch the video and decide for yourself.
